Helping at the Border
Worship together yesterday was wonderful! In addition to a great sermon on Romans 6 from David Taylor, beautiful sung worship led by Kristin Underwood and Christie Hodge, and a rich time of praying the liturgy together, it was a gift to have Rondell Trevino from The Immigration Coalition share about some of their work along the border.
As Rondell shared with us, TIC is providing drinking water and meals to around 2000 asylum-seekers in Reynosa, Mexico. They are doing this in partnership with local churches and organizations. While the situation along the border may not be getting the same attention nationally that it did a few years ago Rondell described a situation of acute need and real challenge. I am deeply grateful for TIC's faithful work, demonstrating the love of Christ in tangible and faithful ways.
As a mission partner of COTC we are supporting this work in prayer and monthly financial contributions. We are privileged to partner with them. In addition to this ongoing support, all cash giving in the offering yesterday in worship (thanks to everyone who so generously gave), and everything given to "Missions" through our giving portal until noon tomorrow will go directly to support the work of TIC. Simply designate the donation is for missions using the drop down menu. You can, of course, also support TIC directly through their website. Please pray for those seeking asylum along our southern border, please pray for the work TIC, and please prayerfully consider how God might be calling you to support this good work.
Thanks for reading! The Lord bless and keep you at the start of this week, and may He establish the work of your hands (Ps. 90).
In Christ,
Peter+
