Untroubled Hearts

Hi COTC Family,

This Sunday we are picking back up in the Gospel of John with John chapter 14 verses 1-7. In this passage Jesus commands his followers, “Do not let your hearts be troubled.” If you’re anything like me that is challenging command to follow!

As we prepare to meet Christ in this text I invite you to read it over, and consider the promise implicit in Jesus exhortation. Why is it that he commands us to not be troubled? What fresh perspective regarding the changes and chances of life can we learn from Jesus?

I am looking forward to diving into this text with you this Sunday!

Earlier this week David Taylor’s new book of prayers, Prayers for the Pilgrimage: A Book of Collects for All of Life, was released. I know many of us have been blessed by David’s timely written prayers for all manner of circumstances. In addition to David’s prayers this book also features illustrations by David’s wife, Phaedra. Check it out! Also, check out this book review in "Christianity Today" by Lionel Young, a member of the COTC community.

Grace and peace,

Peter+

Ps. The FAQ regarding our upcoming season of transition can be found here. We’ll be sharing more details next week about opportunities for gathering and connection before we Coelhos depart. We want to see you and celebrate God’s faithfulness over the years! Be sure to mark out the weekend of August 3rd and 4th at the very least, if possible.
