Good neighbor fund

What it is: The Good Neighbor Fund (GNF) exists to help Church of the Cross members bring attention to the needs of others in our neighborhoods and city. Through this fund, COTC parishioners can apply on behalf of someone else for a one-time financial gift to meet an immediate and specific need.

The GNF fund allows COTC to live into it’s calling as a community of blessing to others in the name of Christ who became poor that we might become rich (2 Cor. 8:9). The hope is for this fund is to enable parishioners to notice and bring attention to the needs of others in our neighborhood and city, allowing our parish to have a further reach in loving our neighbors.

Who can receive the funds for: Recipients do not need to attend COTC, in fact, we see these funds a way to bless the broader community and our hope is that they are used for people outside of COTC, as often as they are used for COTC parishoners.

Who can apply: Anyone who considers COTC home and participates in the life of COTC through regular worship, serving, etc., in good faith, and has attended or plans to attend a membership class. COTC parishoners can apply on behalf of individuals in the Austin area who need a one-time financial gift. the blessing of the church.

Process: Applications are reviewed by the GNF team, who will make a collective decision regarding the request. If approved, the GNF will connect with the applicant regarding the disbursement of a financial gift. The application process is intended to be simple and accessible while allowing for intentional, wise, and generous stewarding of this fund.
