COTC youth Ministry

COTC is grateful to have a thriving Youth Ministry that includes Youth Group, Gospel Reading Group, and Catehhsicm Cohort for youth in 6th to 12th grade. Read below to learn a bit about each offering.

Youth Group— Youth Group meets from September to May on Sundays following the 11 am service on the first and third Sundays. Led by Reid, our Director of Youth Formation, each semester, an area of focus is chosen, with the goal of forming COTC youth in the ways of Jesus through reading and studying God’s word, fellowship, and serving.

The vision behind youth group is intentional and strategic community building and opportunities to learn how to practically walk with Jesus. Therefore, this semester we will be focusing on creating a Rule of Life. The idea is to encourage daily and weekly purposeful habits that will keep us grounded in God's word and his presence.

Gospel Reading Group— New in the fall of 2024, this group occurs on second and fourth Sundays during the 11 am service. Youth who attend will “follow the cross” with The Garden. Under the leadership of our Director of Youth, Reid, kids will study the Bible together, with space for questions, learning, and curiosity.

Catechism Cohort (7th to 9th graders) This class is designed to be a basic yet comprehensive introduction to the Christian faith. It’s taught in partnership with lay and clergy people. During year one of the two-year cycle, we will cover topics including The Gospel, The Bible, and the Creeds.  Year two consists of The Lord's Prayer, Ten Commandments, and the Sacraments. The class is a commitment of 30 classes (September - May for two years), and we ask that participants commit to attending as many as possible to experience the full scope and depth of the class.  At the end of the two years, confirmation will be an option for students who attend 25+ classes.

Catechism requires registration ahead of time. Email Blake with any questions about Catechism

Class takes place on Sundays during the 11 am service (until the Eucharist), twice per month (see dates for year 1 below).
