It was a real joy to celebrate our first Pentecost together as a church this past Sunday! Thank you for bringing food to share, for dancing (!), and especially to those who helped pull off the events of the day. As we celebrated that God has drawn people from all nations to himself, it felt like we were beginning some wonderful new traditions together. I’m already looking forward to next year.
We also spent time on Sunday taking stock of where we are as new church, six months in. If you weren’t there on Sunday, you can listen to the audio from the talk here. We also showed two slides related to attendance at COTC and to our internal giving; they can be seen here. Again, thank you to John Porter, Sarah Sigler, and Bruce Silsby for their work as our Finance Team in these early and transitional stages of life as a church. If you have any questions regarding the slides of this aspect of COTC, please feel free to approach any of us with any questions.
On Sunday, I made a specific invitation for all us to pray, serve, give, and invite others to come and see. I’m excited for what might come as we press into this call. This Sunday, there will again be opportunities to sign up to serve in some basic areas of need including childcare, setup/teardown, altar guild, hospitality and ushering. Also, a number of y’all asked about the possibility of online giving. I’m happy that it is setup through our diocese, and a link is available on the COTC website here.
Finally, this Sunday is Trinity Sunday! On this day, the church celebrates God’s triune nature, that he is persons-in-community. There is such mystery and wonder worth celebrating as we contemplate God’s identity and nature.
We Coelhos are sad we won’t be there to worship in wonder with you, but we are also excited and grateful to take a weekend away as family. I’m grateful that Paul Van Allen (preaching) and Rev. Mike Watson (presiding over the liturgy) are able to serve COTC this Sunday and help make this a possibility. We will miss you and look forward to worshiping together on May 29, especially since we will celebrate new life in Christ through the sacrament of baptism!
