Worship In a Time of Ice
Hi Church Family,
As I write this I’m grateful that many of you are coming up on 24 hours back with electrical power, even though we now struggle with the boil notice and a lack of water. With the weather warming a little I know that we are eager for relief from this past week. I’m praying for God’s faithfulness and care to be known in your home and life this weekend.
Like many properties in the Austin area, the Phillips Event Center has experienced some water damage. Thankfully our equipment at the PEC was largely spared water damage and we are hopeful that we can be up and running with our regular schedule soon. However, we won’t be able to worship there this Sunday. Instead, we’ll be gathering at 10am on Zoom much like we did for Ash Wednesday. This will be a great opportunity for us to see each other’s faces as we pray and worship together. What a gift to be able to have community after a week like this. The liturgy will be accessible in the zoom call and also on our website shortly. Lastly, in place of the ashes we would have done on Wednesday you can drive by the Parish House to receive ashes from noon to 2pm on Sunday.
I also want to ask you again to stay in touch if you are experiencing any needs. Here are three specific ways we are seeking to care for each other:
If you need someone to pray or speak with please let myself or Nick know.
If you are in need of a meal Phaedra Taylor has a number of simple and easy-to-warm meals ready to be distributed and we have people who can drop them off at your house. Just let her know.
Lastly, if you have water damage and/or simply have questions about how to restart your water, there are a number of people at COTC with experience who would be happy to talk with you. Reach out to Father Nick and he can connect them with you.
I can’t emphasize enough, please do reach out if you have a need or concern in this time.
Thank you for all the ways you are caring for one another and for our neighbors. Even through these trying days God’s faithfulness and glory are being made known. While we are experiencing a lot of turbulence and uncertainty His promises and kingdom are unshakeable. Let us set our confidence in Him this Lenten season.
In Christ,
Peter+
