Discerning the Good News in a Wounded World

“In the life, ministry, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ something has happened that alters the total human situation.”  - Lesslie Newbigin, Foolishness to the Greeks

How good is God’s good news? What does the Gospel have to say to the particular needs of our lives and world?

This Sunday evening churches from our diocese will gather for a time of teaching, sharing, worship, and celebrating our common life on mission. As Churches for the Sake of Others, at the center of our existence is the conviction that we are called to participate in the blessing of others. At the center of that work of blessing is proclaiming the good news of what God has done in and through the person of Jesus.

The theme of our time this Sunday is “Crossing Brokenness” with an emphasis on how the good news of Jesus Christ brings healing to the broken places of our world, and how we are commissioned to participate confidently in that good work. We are invited, called, and equipped to be ministers of God’s reconciliation. This evening will be a time to be reminded and encouraged in this wondrous reality.  The details for this service are below and I want to encourage you to come to this rich time together in the presence of God!

With the turn into August there will be more going on as we get into the fall, so be sure to keep track of what’s going on by reading your e-news and Sunday bulletin.

In Christ,

Peter+
