A Mixed Multitude of Information Updates
Hi Church,
This is an information-heavy email, with a few important elements related to this Sunday and our life more generally. Thanks for reading!
This Sunday is Pentecost. Come join us as we remember the gift of God’s creative and restorative Spirit and revel in the Spirit’s presence with us today! Wear red and come ready to sing! We’ll also be celebrating baptisms and recognizing new members in our community. The Spirit is intimately involved in these acts, birthing new life in Christ and drawing us to one another. Related to the Spirit’s activity among all nations and peoples, our diocese collected these reflections on Asian-American heroes from parishioners at various C4SO churches. It is cool to read about Dr. Francis Su's UT Intervarsity connections!
This Sunday also involves a shift in our worship arrangements. Both services we’ll be indoors and the 11am service will be live-streamed. No pre-registration is required for attendance or for childcare. Happily, the CDC set out new guidelines last week, stating that masks are no longer required for vaccinated individuals in indoor worship. That’s a big and exciting change! We anticipate a shift re: masks and vaccinated individuals starting on Sunday, May 30th (look for further communication about this next week). However, we anticipate a lot of visitors in worship on Sunday (because of the baptisms) and we’ll keep our policies as they have been for now.
Related to the shift in worship arrangements, we need your help. There are a variety of volunteer opportunities on Sunday morning. You can find out more about those teams and take the first steps toward serving here. In conjunction with these volunteer opportunities I’m excited that we’re retuning to our pre-pandemic full liturgical service.
Lastly, I wanted to let you know that COTC is hiring. We’re looking to fill a full-time position related to the operational side of our corporate life. This is an important role in making our life together “tick.” If you know of anyone who might be a good fit please pass the job description on. And please be praying for God’s provision of the right person for this role and time.
Extra lastly, keep an eye out tomorrow for a special email with an important announcement.
In Christ,
Peter+
Ps. With so much going on this Sunday we’ve rescheduled our “The Theology of the Arts” talk to Saturday, June 5th at 11am at the Parish House. I hope you can be there.
