Let's Celebrate!

Hey COTC Family!

This Sunday, February 28th, we are celebrating Church of the Cross's 6th birthday! Not only are we celebrating the COTC's birthday, we are also celebrating closing on 8140 Exchange Dr; the place we've called home for Sunday worship the last 6 years. We will hold our regular eucharist service and following service, we'll paaaaarty! We'll share a meal together (sides that y'all are bringing) and brisket. There will also be a snow cone truck. We'll have a couple church-wide games in the ballroom that most ages will be able to participate in and some other activities will be available for the kids as well. Most of all, we just want to spend time together, celebrate, and thank God for his provisions. This Sunday is also a great time to invite guests.

Details for Sunday:

  • 10 a.m. Eucharist Service

  • Immediately following service- set up for celebration: we will need help with this. There will be three main things we'll need help setting up. If you're able to help, see the three main areas we'll need help with below:

    • Tables-- head over the alcove and Kimberly will offer instructions on setting tables up

    • Chairs-- head up to the front and Andrew will offer instructions on chair set up.

    • Food (food tables will be outside on the back patio)-- if you brought food, please head to the kitchen to get it and put it out on the table outside. If you'd like to help with food and drink setup, head to the kitchen and Sarah R will offer instructions on where to take food.

COTC will provide brisket and drinks. Last namesA-M plan to bring a side and last names N-Z plan to bring a dessert.

If you'd like to help out with any additional setup/cleanup on Sunday, email Kimberly atkimberly@cotcsaustin.org

Ps. We are entering the season of Lent next week (To learn more join us tonight for a session on the church year!). See below for details regarding our services jointly held with Christ Church for Ash Wednesday at their property at 112 Medina. Note that you'll need to register for childcare (at the 7pm service). As is our custom at COTC we have selected a Lenten book for us to read as church. This year we'll be reading the book 57 Words That Change the World, a meditation on the Lord's Prayer. This is part of an emphasis on prayer in this season that we'll be sharing more about next week. A small number of copies of the book we'll be available to pick up over the coming Sundays (with a suggested donation of $10). You can also order the book yourself (it's currently free an ebook with Kindle Unlimited).
