What is Alpha?

Hi COTC Family,

During this past Sunday’s sermon I mentioned we are hosting something called the Alpha Course in the New Year. Alpha is a remarkable resource that millions of people around the world have been blessed by, but I’m aware that some of us have never heard of it.

The basic components of Alpha include a meal, a talk, and discussion. The intention behind these components is to create a hospitable space where people can be themselves and ask any question. You can check out some of the topics and the questions people have here

The ultimate aim is people will encounter Jesus in a life-changing and life-giving way. Obviously this is something the Holy Spirit has to do! So my first invitation for you is to pray for this course and the Holy Spirit to be present and active!

Beyond that you might consider joining us. Alpha is a great opportunity to be built up in your faith, ask any questions you might have, and connect to others. Going through the course might be the first step before you consider inviting others. If you’re interested in participating register here

Feel free to invite others who might be interested as well. Share the registration link, and you can share this slick trailer for the course!

Over the last decades the Alpha Course has proven to be one of the best resources in the world for people to meet Jesus and find new life in Him. The sacrament of baptism is related to that gift of new life. We'll have another opportunity coming up in early January. If you’re interested in participating please contact Mother SarahASAP.

Lastly, we’re hosting a "J-Term" classes at the church in the month of January. These are opportunities for equipping and formation, an expression of our value for transformation. Find out more about those classes and register here

Even as we are present to the season of Advent I am looking forward to all that is happening in January! I’m grateful to God for the ways he is working in our midst.

In Christ,

Peter+
