Opportunities to Connect

Hi COTC,

Parish Meetings are not exactly the most exciting element of our shared life. They’re a necessity for the good order of the church as a local institution, a part of the structure that helps us fulfill our mission as an instrument, sign, and foretaste of Jesus' reign. Nonetheless, I was grateful for the time we had together between services last Sunday. I’m encouraged by the way the Lord is working in and through COTC. Thank you for being a part of that!

If you missed it, here is the annual report that was shared prior the meeting. This coming Sunday and on the 24th John Porter, our treasurer, along with Jon Ingle, a member of the Parish Council, will be available to meet you with any questions regarding the financial update from 10:30am in the small boardroom. You can also email John here with any questions or concerns.

Now that we are fully into the fall I wanted to highlight a couple of opportunities for further connection in our life together:

  1. Newcomers Lunch on Sunday, September 24th - Sign up here to join us for this opportunity to connect with others and learn a bit more about COTC. Following the 11am service.

  2. Liturgy Tour on Sunday, October 1st - Ever wonder why it is that we do what we do in worship? Join us following the 11am for a quick run through of how it is that our liturgy guides us to Jesus and the Gospel. This will be fully interactive, so come with your questions! All ages welcome! Register here

  3. COTC Essentials, October 8th, 15th, 22nd - This class is an introduction to the vision, values, and convictions that animate our life together. Join us to learn more and consider becoming a member at COTC. Lunch and childcare are provided. Sign up here

  4. Neighborhood Groups - Groups are the best way to connect beyond Sundays with the community. Each week COTCers gather throughout the city to draw near to Jesus, and share in His life together. If mid-week or the specific geography is difficult, consider our new “Sunday Supper” opportunity. Check out groups here or contact Sarah with any questions.

  5. Parish Retreat, October 28th - Join in on this annual tradition as we gather for a day of play, learning, and celebration. This year we are delighted to have David Bailey of Arrabon joining us to talk about what it means for us to be a people of reconciliation as we follow Jesus. Space is limited, so sign up here

This list is not exhaustive, so check out this PDF for some other happenings in the months ahead. May the Lord guide and direct you in your engagements with Him and community this season!

In Christ,
Peter+

Ps. Yesterday was the Feast of the Holy Cross, hence the icon image above. Below is the collect for the day:
Almighty God, whose Son our Savior Jesus Christ was lifted high upon the Cross that he might draw the whole world to himself: Mercifully grant that we, who glory in the mystery of our redemption, may have grace to take up our cross and follow him; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.
