Daniel replied, “No wise man, enchanter, magician or diviner can explain to the king the mystery he has asked about, but there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries- Daniel 2:27-28a

There is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries.

The sights and smells and sounds of the Triduum are in our faces, and yet it is only with senses graced by God we are able to make meaning of the mysteries before us. An awareness of an executed man and an empty grave are not, in and of themselves, transformative. But the ability to perceive what Jesus has done, to know even in our aching and failing bones that the undoing of death has begun and that we are invited to partake and proclaim these mysteries? That is a gift.

So we ask God to reveal afresh the mysteries of Christ.
But that's not all.

If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. - 1 Cor. 13:2

As we enter these next days, attuned to Jesus' crucifixion, burial, and resurrection, we ask not merely for the revelation of mystery, but for hearts of flesh that would receive the love of God and joyfully love him in return.

It is in that love we will adorn the cross on Easter morning. Consider if there are any flowers from nearby sidewalks or your home gardens you might want to bring. If there aren't any or you forget in the scramble out the door, not to fear - we will have a store of flowers available to share.

A brief note on practicalities! The Easter 9AM service is historically the larger of the two. For all my fellow introverts (or whoever wants a better parking spot ;), consider if the 11AM may be a better fit.

I am eager to worship with you tonight and Sunday. May God's profound love and mysteries be made known to all who draw near.

Peace,

Sarah+
